VP, Legal

The VP, Legal will provide expert counsel on a wide array of legal issues directly related to the cannabis industry.  This role will be called on to provide strategic and practical legal advice to High12’s various business functions.

 

Job Duties

  • Provide transactional legal services to High12 while ensuring compliance to applicable legislation and undertaking risk management.

  • Collaborate with team to understand business requirements and work closely with leadership to assess and mitigate legal risks the business

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify and develop strategic priorities.

  • Draft and negotiate contracts and licensing agreements.

  • Advise on corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters

  • Be the subject matter expert on the various federal and provincial laws applicable to cannabis would be ideal.

  • Field all legal and compliance inquiries from key stakeholders.

  • Oversee Risk Management activities.

  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a member in good standing of the Canadian Bar Association.

  • Successful completion of an LLB from a recognized university.

  • A minimum of 3 year experience (post-Call) practicing transactional legal services within a law firm or a corporation with strong emphasis on regulatory and marketing matters.

  • Critical thinking, analysis, and research skills are essential.

  • Strong business acumen

  • Superior time management skills, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.

  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and diplomacy.

  • Resourcefulness and flexibility.

  • Professional and responsive, and the ability to move within a fast paced environment.
